I spent about 8 hours and some construction grade Douglas Fir I liberated from work. Strong wood. 1/4 x 3" galvanized carriage bolts hold it together. Ready to work, but I'll be hitting the scrap yard for some angle iron to use in making a tailgate extension. And maybe I'll round off the top of the bullboard to match the cab's roof line.
