Grigg, I know what you mean. It seemed weird to me, too. But yet it was queter without mufflers. now I will admit, we never took it out on the road, so that might be different. but just idling or at pert throttle in the driveway, there was a significant difference in the sound/vokume of the exhaust. I can't explain it either.
