The 283 is the best engine anyone ever built. Period. That, with a T-5 transmission from an S-10, will give you more of what you want, while easily putting up with the staggering abuse ANY 18-year-old routinely dishes out. I couldn't help it until I learned better, and neither, I suspect, can you. I know what you mean about the bond, though. Maybe you need to go highway truckin' for money, like I did. I hope you find an easier way, though . .
