Kid do any darn thing you feel, like, and can afford. the 283 will be a fine engine till you get enthused and move up. Probably get the best mileage too. the T 5 will be the most economical for you now. a 6 speed would break the bank unless daddy is financing this project. Make it run good and go from there. You have a lot to learn and it is going to be so much fun I am green with envy. I wish you the Best.
