There really isn't any advice to give other than see what your state DMV requires. After my 3rd trip to the office with everything they requested, I found an error in her interpretation of the out-of-state title and actually had everything on my 2nd trip. Rather than pointing that out to the nice lady across the counter (who could make my life a living hell if I told her how to do her job), I just said, "I think we've got everything this time" and paid the extra $20 get the title in my hand before I walked out the door. Had I pointed out her mistake, I would have probably had to make a 4th trip or start over in another office.
