When I bought my 1960 half ton Apache last November and had it hauled home on a flatbed, my wife commented that it was the ugliest truck she had ever seen. She referred to it as "old ugly Fred".
The name stuck. Fred is driveable now,and ready for license and inspection. A new windhield and door glass improved his looks a bunch.
The biggest improvement in appearance occured yesterday evening when I finally figured out why he always seemed to have a perpetual frown: the front bumper had been installed upside down by some previous owner.
I notice the sarcastic criticism is more subdued now. My next angle of attack will be door interior cosmetics.
