My '62 didn't come with door glass chrome...just plain glass, and yes, it's original to the truck.
VERY interesting about the high-hum with no hole in it. Maybe your truck is a very early production, before they came on-line with two floor humps.
It should be a pretty easy matter to fix--just find a low-hump trans tunnel and bolt it in. I've got a high-hump for my '62 with a 4spd, and I'm going to swap in a later 4spd so I'll be swapping in the low hump tunnel/cover. Simple bolt-in.
If you do end up finding a low-hump cover, please let me know as I would like to buy your high-hump without the shifter hole...I've got some ideas for the interior of my Suburban, and a high-hump cover fits into that. Not having a hole to weld shut would be a bug help.
