After ordering a replacement floormat, I discovered that my 1960 1/2 ton Apache (TOT) three speed has a "high hump" cab floor. I had always assumed the high hump was necessary to accomodate a four speed transmission. Does anybody know the reasoning behind the two floor profiles in the 3-speed. I'm pretty sure my truck has never been converted from 4 spd to TOT. Were all the high humps produced in one factory and the low humps elswhere?
This is the second time I have been surprised when ordering parts and no choices were offered. A couple of months ago I came face to face with the fact that some trucks came with a metal frame around the roll up side windows. Some did not.
Are there any more surprises out there for me? Jimmy Carter catalog only listed one floormat for a three speed, and another for a four speed. They did not mention any distinction between hump height. Classic Parts of America listed a choice of high hump or low hump but did not mention anything about transmission. However;Classic Parts,in their online catalog did indicate that the the high hump was for the four speed. Neither supplier indicated that a three speed might also come with a high hump floor.
