I used white litium spray grease on ALL my motorcycle cables !!!
you can buy one of these little puppies at any good M/C shop.
it clamps on and allows you to insert a nozzle tip DIRECTLY INTO and lubes the entire entire inner cable.

if you wanted to lube a non jacketed cable, slip some heat-shrink over it and it should then keep the lube inside
