Where did your friend find this thing? I'm wondering if there might be some clues to its origin in where it was found. I'm thinking it might have been built for mining or logging purposes, and knowing which would be interesting if not helpful.
An outfit named Armbruster used to do custom coachwork that could have included something like this truck. What I have seen of their work was always extended cab or limo kinds of things, but the four-wheel-drive could have been done by someone else.
Where in Idaho are you? I once lived there and have a brother who lives in Boise today.
Years ago I found a '51 GMC in Idaho that had a Dodge flathead six and military style four-wheel-drive. Makes me think I need to go truck hunting in Idaho again...
