Generally the longer the stroke, the lower the RPMs. A long stroke straight 6 cylinder has great torque needed for hauling loads.

Short strokes will generally have higher RPMs and get more of their horsepower/torque from the RPMs, and have much lower torque at similar RPMs to long stroke engines.
