Peter it is not a tough job getting it out if you don't have a radio. I presume you tried wiping with a wet windshield. There are some people who suggest putting some sort of lube or softner on the leather diaphragm by squirting it in the hole where the vacuum line goes. Speaking of, have you checked the line? sometimes people use a thinner wall hose and it collapses which of course would cut back on the performance. I have a spare if you want to try it.
