Thanks guys!!
So if I get this straight, I have a 1951 GMC 1 ton with a 216 oil splasher! I've been reading a lot on the forum so when I saw the 30psi oil guage I figured it must be a 216. The rus is really minimal as faras I'm concerned. The ride home was bone rattling so if there are no more visible holes then the rest must be solid. The truck was sitting in the bush about 4 miles from my brothers with some kind of tall hopper bottom grain hauling box on it. I chained the box to the combine sitting behind the truck and pulled the truck out from underneath it. Three of the tires held air, the rear right had a large slash in it so we just pulled as is. The speedo works cause a 10 MPH my teeth were rattling around inside my head and it felt like riding a bucking bronco. Halfway home the left front blew and scared the crap out of me. We stopped and cut the rear tire of with my brothers Leatherman. After that the ride was more like a slow lope on a fat horse. Any rust that there is could not have survived the ride intact so whatever metal is left must be good and solid. The motor is not siezed so maybe it will run with a little help. You know the line, "it ran when I parked it". Thanks again, I'll try to keep the web page updated with pics. It may be real slow since I have two projects and only the "bug" fits in my garage. Also my youngest son has Autism and is a real high needs kid. VERY little time for dad to play with old toys. Thanks, Chevy Nut.
