I've driven a truck with one of those Hurst indy 3 speed floor shifters, it was in a '55 3100 w/235, it drove horrible. the throwes were too long and the feel was too loose for my taste. When i overhauled the control box for my '55, I made my own bushings from bronze. The bushings came from a local farm store, I modified the control box arms by driling out the holes to fit and adding a threaded hole on the side for a lock screw. Other than that, I added an oil slot on the bushing to allow for lubing. The shifts are very positive. You can see a photo of the bushings on my webshots album.
