I found the serial number, and it appears to read as follows.

FO6I3WE

I assume that the F is for Flint, Michigan, but I cannot figure out the rest of of it. Does anyone have any ideas?

I looked in my 1966 owner's manual, and it says that the 283 is grey. It looks like I might have a matching engine!
