a welding spoon is basically a chunk of copper (i'm using little 1/2 inch pipe, hammered flat and clamped in a pair of vice grips). when welding, and you have a burn thru, or a larger gap to fill, you put the "spoon" behind the hole, and weld over it. the copper isn't weldable, so the wire just pools up on top of the copper, and coveres the hole.
it works alot better then using small bits of steel to patch the burn throughs, like i did on my fenders before i was informed about this technique.
thanks for all the praise!
and '26...umm..kinda glad i don't have to tackle THAT one...haha, jk! remember, it's only sheet metal, and its repairable.
i mean, c'mon. an 18 year old can do that. you guys have like..double or triple my age. so, experience..times 2 or 3...wow. i better practice some more to keep ahead of the learning curve. :p
now if only i could get my hands on a TIG...hmm...lol
