I'm gonna have to do the same sort of thing with my Model A, but it's a cowl tank and I'm not tearing it down far enough to remove it.

I could be wrong but some freinds of mine say in order to properly paint the A you must remove the cowl and paint it first. Then do the other body work and paint the rest of the car. As I said I or they could be wrong.
