You have two choices: 1) Stay with the solid axle, 2) Get yourself a front clip from a later-model rig.
The solid axle can be given power disc brakes and power steering, but it takes a little fabbing. A front clip is a major project and should be done by someone who really knows their stuff, but can provide a more car-like ride. Of course, you won't have the soul of an old truck, then.
Everything's a trade-off, Buddy.
