One of my other vehicles is a '93 Jeep Cherokee, which is four wheel drive and has a power rack and pinion mounted to the front axel. That makes me think that it is common on 4 wheel drive vehicles, and something that can be done on these trucks.
I guess one difference is that the Jeep has coil springs in the front, but I don't see how that changes things.
