Why, does it seem like there's no tension? Like the pump arm's not touching anything?
The last fuel pump I did was my Pontiac and that arm definitely had tension against cam. Had to put the arm in, push arm against cam, push pump towards block with one hand while installing screws with other hand. It's pretty basic so if this is what you're doing, yeah, you may have a worn lobe.
Don't know much about a '31 but, is it possible to accidentally mount the pump with the arm going underneath the cam instead of riding it?
