I also have a queastion to ponder. I have been offered a 1941 Chevy one ton dump by a friend of my dad's for $450. The truck is still pretty solid, but someone stuck in a F*** 390 V8 and 4 speed tranny years ago. I have a 216 I can use for it with a bell housing swap and if I find a chevy 4 speed to fit in it. My question is this: This truck has 18 inch wheels and tires and it has a flat frame in the back instead of the humped up frame most 1 tons have. Also, the rear end under this truck is pretty hefty. My dad has helped work on this truck several times over the years and he thinks it might be more of a ton and a quarter instead of just a one ton. Would this be possible? I do have some piccies of it if I need to post them and I am waiting for the owner to get back from florida so I can purchase the truck.
