I would guess the drag marks on the cylinder walls are caused by there being no lubrication. Otherwise I can't see just the rings doing that damage?
Remember this engine ran perfectly before the oil pressure dropped. I doubt it would be running so good if the assembly and machine work was so bad.
Wasn't all this caused by an oil pump failure?
