you might try running the thermostat with the insides removed. that way it has enough restriction to keep the water in the radiator to cool it, but it will let the water out as if it was at operating temp so it wont over heat the motor. we do that on our demolition derby cars so that it acts like normal, but theres nothing to get stuck and cause the motor to over heat. dont know all the details of the problem your having, but no thermostat is as bad as a stuck one.
