The gambrel roof style would make one mighty fine looking AD age appropriate building.
When and IF I ever build is to have piping within the floors and use a heated fluid system. The unit to heat the water will be outside and away from the building.
By using this type of heating system solvents, adhesives, gasoline, etc. with flammable vapors can be used even in winter with relative safety. With heated fluid even solar assist is very doable.
Don't forget to allow for vent fans to expell paint vapors, etc., and perhaps fresh air intakes with filters for a paint room.
