If you're removing the torsion bars or separating the lower ball joint, the factory service manual states that you should turn the adjusting screws on the torsion bars to relax the pressure. Without the book in front of me, I don't recall the exact details, but you could probably loosen them a fixed number of turns, then retighten them the same when you're finished.
