I always liked the pager type alarm system;a good friend had one on his Harley,and carried his handgun (legally)whenever he was on the bike.One night while we were eating dinner downtown,his pager went off. We walked out of the eatery and saw somebody trying to get his bike to start. I went back to call the cops,and he walked around and came up behind the thief,and,with gun drawn,tapped the crook on the side of the face with the barrel. The guy felt that cold steel and heard the hammer come back right by his ear and voided his bodily functions. He was then forced to walk 5 blocks to the Police station at gunpoint,where he confessed voluntarily. (nice touch when the officer told him "You're lucky to be here-the last guy had to confess in the Emergency Room.")
