sounds like i need to break down and try redoing the intake/exhaust manifolds and associated pipes. the bolts look like they will break if i look at them sideways so i didn't want to do much if it was something easier like a vacuum advance or correct zenith carb replacement that would help fix this problem.
i'm in moreno valley btw, close to riverside california, ~ 60 miles east of los angeles, out in the desert!
