Jim, I think the article you may be thinking of is located at
www.classicperform.com/power2.htm I scabbed onto a Saginaw power steering box out of a 60's Chevy pickup to put in my 51 should I decide to do this someday. Without reading the entire article again, I kind of remember the author being a little uncertain about one of the mounting bolts. I seems that only two of the bolts hook to the frame and an "ear" has to be welded to the frame for the third bolt to go through. I don't think it would be that big of a deal to make a little better mounting system. I also remember Phat saying something about when you turn hard right the inside of the tire will rub on the steering box, but with a little planning, this could be handled.
BTW, I recently aquired a 248 GMC engine out of a 51 GMC 350 truck. I want to use this engine in my 51 Chevy pickup after making the necessary adjustments for the GMC's longer length. Are there any peculuarities I need to be aware of regarding the 248.
