Jim,maybe forget the power steering. 2 years ago I installed a 41-47 recirculating ball Saginaw steering box in my 37 pick up.Its a bolt in job more or less.I had exhaust clearance interference with one of the 2 exhaust pipes.A hammer blow took care of that. Your 39 has the same high friction antique box as my 37.It now steers with the same effort as an AD truck,even with 215 section radials,its good enough.I have to thank Barry weeks who told me the boxes would swap easily.
