It depends on alot of factors.. if you're willing to wait till an outfit will just happen to be going that way, you can get a sweet deal.. but the operative word there is WAIT.
If an outfit is willing to go right away (within a few days) and get it for $1.25/loaded mile i'd say thats probably a fair price.
If your not in a big rush to get it, there was another thread here where a fellow Stovebolter mentioned another forum where guys post stuff they need picked up, and can sometimes find folks going in that direction empty who are happy to move the stuff for you to help offset the cost of their trip.
an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.
