I'm no expert but I'd say you have a big job ahead of you. But it just doesn't get any better than '39 or '40. They did make 1 ton pickups so you could possible piece one together.
I have a Canadian 1940 GMC 1 ton pickup. The only real difference between the 3/4 ton and 1 ton is the rear brakes, rear springs and diff. ratio. Front brakes and I believe front suspension is the same between 3/4 and 1 tons.
