Bob Elton, the author of that shiftless article, is obviously one of those people who can't chew gum and walk at the same time. With that lack of coordination, how the heck can he be expected to master the skill of driving, AND SHIFTING, simultaneously? This is simply a matter of if he can't do it, no one else should be allowed to do it either.
I think that his argument is pretty lame.
