Well, I haven't posted for a while, just haven't had much time lately to work on my truck or spend much quality time on the computer. I thought I would share a neat story that took place the other day.
September '03, I moved from a farm about 45 minutes away from where I live now. I sort of worked for rent type deal and fortunately there was plenty of room and equipment there and that's where I did 99% of the restoration on my truck.
Last weekend I sold a riding mower to a guy that probably lives about an hour from me. He and a buddy came by on Wednesday to pick up the mower. The mower was in the barn where my truck is parked, covered with flannel sheets. We were looking at he mower when they inquired what was under the sheets. I told they it was a '46 Chevy and they immediately asked it they could check it out. When I took the cover off they really liked it, and the buddy says, "I've seen a truck like this before". Now I 've been told this before and usually I wonder if it's probably just a conventional cab truck they saw somewhere, maybe even in a magazine. Fact is there aren't many '46 coe's running around MD. Anyway the guy thinks he saw it somewhere in Gaithersburg (an area close to where I used to live) maybe, I say that it was over at a buddy's shop having the rearend checked and he said "No,not there." He thinks of a couple other places he may have seen it and to make a long story short, turns out that 2 years ago he was working for the phone company and while doing some work on the property where I used to live the owner gave him a tour of the shop. There sat my truck in the reassembly stages and he gave him the full story on its history and even let him sit in it. The guy was most impressed by the sight of a 1946 COE then and even more excited to see it again 2 years later. Like I said, small world.
