It is pretty hard to kill one of those in-line sixes. Several years ago, some guy at a junkyard in Connecticut told me that they had a '65 come in with a blown engine. It still had gas in the tank, and they decided to run the engine (with no oil) and put a rock on the gas pedal. Guess what happened. It wailed for at least an hour before running out of gas!!!
That 250 probably has a long way to go, so don't worry about it too much.
