I would argue the best burger is not a burger...it is a good old Wisconsin grilled brat on a bakery fresh bun, ketsup, mustard maybe some relish... cooked anywhere you want to stop your stovebolt and fire up the grille....
There is not a restaurant in the world that can make em like fresh grilled....The rest of the Good Ol USA just does not know what they are or how to cook em...In CA some place sold me one it was an Italian sausage...good...just not a brat...Watch the Packer Game...they are always on the pre-game show for tailgaiting...
But for a burger joint in the midwest, I'd have to say "Culvers"....Mush N Swiss with a hot fudge malt... Feed the whole family for $25...
