That is a little crude... I'm thinking about getting some 2-inch square or perhaps round tubing, welding plates on each end, and bolting the spindles to the plates using the holes that held the backing plates on.

That allows using the old truck hubs and wheels, while also letting me configure the frame and suspension right for a trailer.

But I'm still in the thinking stage and this project may never go further than that...
