I have a trailer that I use to haul round bales of feed to my cows that is similar to your log skidding trailer. It is made from an 1/2 ton chevy front end axle, 51, I think. The tie rods were bent and welded to the straight axle. The tie rod ends are still adjustable to get it to track straight. Works pretty good.
