To remove your non-locking button or locking button, push in the round, flat piece from the back of the handle and use a small screwdriver to flip out the snap-ring. The flat washer and a spring will come out and then the button, locking or non-locking. If it hasn't deterierated there should be an "O" ring around the button. This is just a cushion tor the button. The new set should have new "O" Rings. By the way, you will need to have the handles removed from the door for this operation. There will be two screws holding on the handle from the inside of the door. (or they may be two small bolts - 7/16 head) Quite simple when you take one apart.
