The problem is that the cam profiles are ground different on a hyd cam vs a solid cam. The opening and closing ramps, lift, duration, etc are ground different. thats not to say it won't work, but the engine performance could change, or valvetrain adjustment problems or damage could result. More apparent in higher-revving v8s where spring pressures, RPM and oiling are different.
