I registered for the draft as Viet Nam was ending, but was not called up, and did not volunteer.
My dad served in Korea, and his brother was served at the same time, but in Alaska of all places.
My grandfathers were both too young for WWI and working in strategic civilian jobs during WWII.
Best man in my wedding served during Viet Nam.
My wife's father was taught Chinese in the Army. My wife's grandfather, a WWII General, is buried in Arlington National Cemetary.
