35 years ago I was taught by the good ole boys how to adjust valve lash for mechanical lifters - with the engine running. Loud, messy, and difficult. Several years ago, I started adjusting lash on a warm engine, not running. It is almost too easy. Line up the #1 cylinder, adjust half the valves; rotate the crank 360 degrees, adjust the other half of the valves - techniques are posted in the tech section, in old discussions in the forum, and on other websites.
