Hi Kimberly, I have a 54 also..I read somewhere, that you can mark and drill a hole in the shaft, so your set screw will fit into it..Will save what ever spline you have left, and make the handle solid..I believe I'm gonna have to do to my window handles...Just a thought, Steve
