Is the full weight of the vehicle sitting on the tires? If the rear axle is hanging down with no weight on it, the slip yoke will be at its full rearward position- - - - -more of the yoke will slide into the transmission once the full vehicle weight is on the wheels- - - -or at least on a pair of jack stands supporting the axle tubes. The stud sticking out of the block is the pivot point for the gas pedal linkage- - - -as long as it's not actually touching the exhaust, it's OK.
