With the side cover off, be sure to make sure the metal around the bolt holes are not distorted. Overtightening in an attempt to seal leaks leads to distortion of the metal. Flatten with a hammer gently on a flat surface. Then use the gasket sealer of your choice. In my experience it is best to accept a little bit of seepage and not fret too much because it is nearly impossible to keep the area dry.
