As near as I can tell, the upper post piece looks to be in good shape. I don't have it apart, and it's hidden inside the spring, so it's hard to see it. I did compress the spring as much as possible to get a look, and it looks good. I was able to loosen it and turn it about a third of a turn so that the latch would catch it in a different spot, but it made no difference.
