A new balancer for a 230/250/292 fits a stovebolt engine by shortening the length of the snout by about 1/4" to make the pulley grooves line up when it bottoms against the timing gear. Move the seal surface on the OD back the same distance to keep from damaging the seal. That's a quick and easy job on a lathe.
