I fabricate my own pickups from 16 GA steel sheet metal and stainless steel mesh. It's a pretty simple project, using acetylene welding and pop rivets. Of course, I'm using non-standard oil pumps on some of the engines I build. We seldom, if ever ran a stock pump pickup on the round track cars.
