I have work with lots of PVC, however, just in the transporting of liquids. Generally, I think PVC is very brittle.
Attention should be given to the glues used to bond the pipe and any threaded connections used. These are the weak areas.
The smallest strain on a PVC connection or impact, shatters the pipe or at the threaded joint.
If PVC was fantastic for air systems, all industries would use it because it is cheap to install, maintain or replace.
PEX is a wonderful system requiring special crimping tools and associated fittings...and as 4ontheFloor states..it just leaks.
If you can afford it.. go stainless steel or galvanized.
Safety first in any shop... don't go for cheap!
