Racecarl's right. But your decision will rely on what you're welding. Body sheet metal? for years the body shops brazed everything. It was easy to smooth and taper out, but the flux can cause corrosion if it isn't boiled out. Frames and brackets? You need the stick. You can weld sheet metal with a stick, but it takes a lot of work to smooth things out.
