I would say the stick (SMAW) is at least twice as strong as a brass weld. I can find out the tensile strengths of each, but it will take a little time. The 7018 rod is 70,000 psi tensile strength, while the 6011 is 60,000 psi--the first two numbers in the rod ID is the tensile strength. I am not sure about brass tensile strength, but I do know brass is not as hard as steel.
